Blind Dreamers

SORiaN - Oil on canvas - 2016

Size: 28x22 inch

Story:

The painting I called Blind dreamers talks about the futility of dreaming to a higher human condition, while still blinded by the attachments of our path through the world. The scenery is situated on top of the clouds, at the time of dusk, when sun sets beyond the them, illuminating the horizon like a lantern behind a shoji wall. The scene depicts imaginary characters following a trail of suspended stones, laying on top of the clouds. Some of these characters are blindfolded, with broken, corroded  wings, unable to fly, grounded by their condition. The central character is different, having an altered appearance, not quite human, not totally un-human nonetheless, still holding onto his mobility and having a heart and a brain, with a certain degree of connectivity.

This metaphoric distance between the heart and the brain is not too long, but certainly not the shortest one either, as a reminiscent Buddhist thought was suggesting as the path for an enlightened being. All these characters are following one another on this trail, not especially lucidly or organized, but simply caught in the gravity of their path, which is actually the force of attraction of their own attachments to the world. They walk this path heavily and their moves are somehow frozen in time, as if they were asleep, dreaming their human condition as their ultimate reality.

At the upper level of the painting, protruding between the clouds, an eye, opened, with the eyelashes symbolically illustrated as teeth, replacing the eyelids,  an account on the un-obviousness of the truth;  the sight of truth must be brutally stripped off the world of appearance, as it does not reveal itself willingly.

Gaia

SORiaN - Oil on canvas - 2016

Size: 20x16 inch

Story:

Gaia teaches US about Life and Earth, organically manifesting them as they emerge into form, raw, pure and unbreakable.

Gaia’ s Beauty flows deeply through every shape and color to disclose its birthing power into US. Gaia is an unified being, its parts are intimately cohesive in their diversity and differentiation.

There is no separation and loneliness in Gaia, just unified existential planes, beyond comprehension.

We perceive Gaia from the distance of our egos or we can choose to merge ourselves into it through art and love.

Vision at the Edge of the World

SORiaN - Oil on canvas - 2016

Size: 24x30 inch

SORiaN ArT Philosophical Surrealism Oil Painting

Story:

The story of this painting talks about the finitude of this world. No matter how vast the world is for most of the human beings, there is for some an edge of it, for those who can see that it exists and it is individualized by the fact itself of having boundaries. Once these boundaries are torn away, the world opens up to something else, that we have not yet any name, not even a thought invented for.

The few ones courageous, creative or wildly mad to reach that edge are blessed or cursed with a peek to the other side. A highly metaphorical scenery in a remote place, probably beyond any physical location.

The intense, intentional effort to uncover that edge can be felt. It is a team effort, still each one individual matters. However, it is up to the beholder to look through that opening and grasp what is beyond our sight, our thought and our concept of what we have been taught that the world is.

Visions of a Shaman 3

SORiaN - Oil on canvas - 2016

Size: 40x30 inch

Story:

This painting talks about a Shaman already at the level where the reality becomes essence and the participation to the energy of the universe turns into the communion with it.

Enlightenment at this point is not a method to merge into the universe, it is the merge itself, the present without self limitation and attachment, beyond any doubt and fear. The Shaman irradiates peacefulness and mindfulness and his former body transforms itself to the limits of any identification with the human form. His eyes are the universe itself looking at itself.

The whirlwind of flowers is the symbol of pure ascension into everything.

There is still a mysterious element in the painting, the Shaman's heart, silvery grayish and solid, defined and still heavy..his human heart. On top of it, a child sleeps in a fetus position..it is the very ego of the Shaman..it is the very link to this world, now silenced, small and innocent. It shows the sign that we become what we have grown and we harvest what we have seeded.
